HULA KAI

This is Hula Kai, a 26ft cat based on a design by James Wharram.
The original Tiki's have an open slatted deck but this adaptation provides an enclosed waist high bridgedeck and full standing head room in both hulls. The port side has two berths (fore and aft) with a galley midships and the starboard hull has a further berth forward, chart table midships and the heads to aft. She is Bermudan rigged with a roller furling jib. She was purchased from a marina after her owner had abandoned her for five years on the hard without paying her fees. She looked very sorry for herself but on closer inspection she was found to be well built in epoxied ply and as sound as a bell. Over four weeks in the summer of 98 we stripped her back to bare wood and refurbished her inside and out. We had an enjoyable week away on the East Coast that August, sailing the Orwell to Ipswich, the Deben to Woodbridge and the Walton Backwaters before returning home to Bridgemarsh Marina, Althorn.
She now has a new owner and resides at Faversham in Kent.
