28/6/11 Nick Edwards - RIP To all those people who knew Nick Edwards 1950 - 2011 His Sad Passing Nick Edwards passed away on Tuesday 28 th June at Basildon Hospital. Nick had suffered poor health for the last few years. He survived throat cancer in the early 2000's and returned to work as head of Reservoir Engineering for the Romanian State Oil Company. On Christmas day 2008, while at home on leave, Nick suffered a massive stroke leaving him severely disabled. He returned home from hospital in the summer of 2009 and was lovingly cared for by his wife Karina. In early June 2011 Nick suffered a second severe stoke from which he never recovered. Nick was allowed to slip peacefully away while his wife kept vigil at his bedside. Nick was an icon at Beauchamp’s Secondary school in the 1960s. A larger than life character and a giant of a man. Nick excelled in all sports and in his academic studies. He was part of the first ever 6th form at the school. Ron Pluck and Nick Edwards were respectivly, the head and deputy-head boys of this new era at Beauchamp’s. For many years he was Scott House Captain. Nick was universally liked by all. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. Nick is survived by his wife Karina and her family, and his children John, Melissa and young Nick. Rest in Peace Nick; see you again on the other side mate.
Trevor John Faulkner (June 2011)
Condolences from Ron Pluck, Mike King, Madeline Patchet, Roy Johnson, John Ounan, Bill Simpson, Andy Samuels, Geoff Bachrah, Trevor and Lyn, Alan Higley, John Morrish, Roger Thomason & Ron Longman

Nick Bennett - RIP It is with great sadness I have to tell you that Nick Bennett passed away over Good Friday night/ Easter Saturday morning. Nick had been suffering with cancer for the past 18 months. He died at home, with his family present. It was Nick's wish to see his daughter get married, and this he did last June. I can remember Nick from my Junior School days at Market Road. I remained friends with him for over 50 years. I can still see him now in his parker riding his scooter to the Youth Centre and the Friday Dance. He was always keen on shooting, a sport he went on to enjoy with his son Tom. Nick is survived by his wife Christine, his son and his daughter. May He Rest In Peace Trev |
| 2/11/03 Due
to a knee injury, I will be taking early retirement from the Fire Service
in January 2004. As it is my intention to spend each winter in the Far
East, it is doubtful that I will be back in time to attend future Rettendon
Bell reunions (which means that I wont be around to immediatly post
pictures up on the site).
